Orthodox Library in Strasbourgat the All Saints’ Church
Rules of the Library
The library is located in the Spiritual and Cultural Center at the All Saints Church and is open every Sunday after the Liturgy.
You can familiarise yourself with the library collection using our online Catalogue.
In order to register as a reader one needs to fill in a registration form indicating one’s full name, address and telephone number.
One reader can take up to three books at a time for a period of one month. If necessary, this period can be extended once. To extend the period of loan the reader must contact the person responsible for the library before the initial period of loan has come to its end (if the book has been requested by other readers, the decision about extension may be negative).
Certain books are not for loan. In the Catalogue such books are marked as “archive copy”. One can have access to this category of books during the opening hours of the library and at other time (by agreement).
If the book you are interested in is loaned to another reader (normally, this will be noted in the description of the book in the Catalogue), you can send a request for this book to the person responsible for the library. Later, you will be informed about the return of the book so you can loan it.
If the books are lost or damaged, the reader must provide an equivalent replacement or compensate the damage (as blessed by the senior priest).
It is not allowed to take books without making a record with the person in charge of the library, negligent handling of books (writing on pages, folding sheets, etc.), as well as holding materials over a period specified by these rules.
The library accepts donations. If you would like to give books, other materials or otherwise support the work of the library, please contact the senior priest or the person responsible for the library.
